ImageLite-On IT, the largest maker of optical disc drives in Taiwan, on August 18 announced it is developing half-height (H/H) HD-DVD burners, according to DigiTimes. The volume production would start in March 2007. Lite-On IT seems to have a quite neutral attitude between Blu-ray Disc (BD) and HD-DVD.

Lite-On IT maintains close business relations with Sony, a key member of the BD Association, and is an OEM/ODM DVD burner maker for Philips, also a key member of the association, through Philips BenQ Digital Storage (an R&D and marketing joint venture of Philips and BenQ). Mainly in this business context, Lite-On IT started production of H/H BD burners last month.
