Traxdata is one of the world's leading brands in the data storage industry and is seen as the industry pioneer in the field of optical storage media. Traxdata is being distributed in Europe, Africa and the Middle East by Conrexx Technology B.V. We had a chance to test Traxdata 16X DVD+R. Thanks to Conrexx Technology B.V., we had the chance to test this media.
The Test Method
In this test we burned a number of discs using the Pioneer DVR-110, LG GSA-4163B and BenQ DW1640 with the latest firmware. Your results may vary depending on your recorder. We will add more results later. For error rate analysis we used nero CD/DVD Speed software and the BenQ DW1640 drive. This test method is not scientifically valid or 100% accurate, but usually gives a good idea of the quality.
The Company Hype
From Traxdata homepage:
"People have better things to do with their time than wait for their DVDs to be burnt", said Floris Evers, Marketing Manager, Conrexx Technology (RITEK Europe). "With the new 16X DVD+R, Traxdata frees our customers time and gives them fabulous results while storing video, music, photos or data. It's also the ideal solution for fast archiving and backups".
DVD+R 16x media is for use in DVD+R/RW drives. The product's full compatibility with DVD+ drives ensures excellent stability and reliability as well as durability. More than 2 hours of high quality video, 120 minutes of audio or 4.7GB of data can be written to a single disc making it a completely versatile storage solution.
 The Product
Our Traxdata 16X DVD+R discs were in the 25 pcs spindle. The disc itself has a silver top coating. Good looking disc. The discs carry a RITEK R04 Manufacturer ID. Traxdata has a "A Grade" Ritek dye.
Performance using Pioneer DVR-110D (4X)
Unfortunately Pioneer did not support higher than the 4x writing speed. Results are not good at all. We have to wait for firmware update.

Performance using LG GSA-4163B (16X)
LG seems to know how to write these discs with the 16X speed. Good results.

Performance using LG GSA-4163B (8X)
With the 8X speed results are also good.

Performance using LG GSA-4163B (4X)
With the 4X speed the results are not as good as with the 8X/16X speed, though results are good.

Performance using BenQ DW1640 (16X)
BenQ DW1640 had some problems with the 16X speed. PI Failure rate is a little bit too high (>16).

Performance using BenQ DW1640 (8X)
With the 8X speed results are better. Not perfect but good.

Performance using BenQ DW1640 (4X)
With the 4X speed results are as good as with the 8X speed. Still good results.

Conclusions
Pioneer DVR-110D did not like these discs (firmware update needed). LG GSA-4163B did perform very well with these discs with the 16X, 8X and 4X speed. BenQ DW1640 had slight problems with the 16X speed but perform well with the 8X and 4X speed. This media should give your moneys worth if you are using proper writer (LG/BenQ) with latest firmware. We do not recommend this media to Pioneer DVR-110D users (wait for firmware update!).
